Cheney vs. Edwards
The debate tonight should offer a rare glimpse into the thought process of Dick Cheney. The Vice President is one of the most powerful members of the administration and essentially the least heard from. He has spent many years in Washington and his political and corporate past have made him one of the shadiest characters around. In my opinion he is the greatest fear monger since McCarthy. I am hopeful that his imperial dark side will come out tonight and those who are watching, who are also capable of thinking, will realize just how deranged this man is. He still hints at a link between Saddam Hussein and Al Queda, in direct contradiction to all of the evidence.
John Edwards, a junior senator and long time trial lawyer, will try to emulate some Clinton charm and wine and dine the home audience with his southern manner, looks, and charisma. I don't believe he is going to be overly successful in coming off that way. What can you really say about John Edwards? He is relatively inexperienced, he voted for the war in Iraq, and he tries to play the populist card-but he is loaded. Why do democrats talk about him like the next coming? He better bring his A-game tonight and get ready for the attack dog Cheney to be all over him.
My Prediction:
Cheney will be an agressive attack dog, Edwards will be the charasimatic southern talker, and the winner will be declared not by the logic and adeptitude of their arguments but by the irrational pre-exhuberance of the mass media and the masses. This is truly infotainment.
