I Feel Compelled to Write

I write for my generation and all those who will come after us. As an American I feel a moral obligation to comment on and disrupt the arrogant and violent behavior of my country. It saddens me to hear the evening news and pick up the morning paper. Our involvement in Iraq has been a disaster. We invaded on false assumptions and have turned young servicemen and women into moving targets. Our leaders should be ashamed and our population outraged. This however is not the case.



I pledge disagreement to the flag - that stands above the grave- of Afghani's, Iraqi's and U.S. Marines!

I can't believe the violence, I can't believe this war!

We invaded Iraq for Weapons - weapons that don't exist

Our neighbors cheer with gladness when our bombs begin to hit

They don't realize the damage - the lunacy of this war

Iraqi children killed in terror - families torn apart

The pundits on Meet the Press don't seem that smart!

The President says to stay the course - John Kerry says the same

His plan is different somehow but it didn't matter on election day

The Democrats are all confused, they lost with big tough john

We thought the American people wanted someone who had supported the War all along?

They are afraid of upsetting their sponsors and acting with some pride

To restore the promise of Liberal thought, that has kept so many alive

So close up all the soup kitchens and move on down to church

Its time to forget progress, we couldn't make it work
